USB PD Power Dongle for Elecraft KX3 Transceiver

This compact cable uses a USB Type C PD Decoy chip to request 15V from a Type C source. Diodes are use to drop the voltage slightly, to stay within Elecraft KX3 specifications (15V max).

The Type C source must be capable of 45W DC continuous. 

The cable has been designed paticularly for the Elecraft KX3, but can be used to supply any electronic device that needs low ripple, low RFI, 15VDC at up to 30W continuous, or 45W at 50% duty cycle.

Some notes regarding the Type C source (such as a cigarette lighter adapter, or power pack):

• It must be “PD” (power delivery) capable
• It must be able to provide 30W or more for KX3 10W transmissions
• It must be able to provide 42W or more for KX3 15W transmissions
• Some adapters are advertised as having power capacity equal to the sum of the ports, so the PD port is often far less
• Some adapters, even with high power PD ports, cannot deliver that power while other ports are in use.
